HIST 4911:Themes in American Environmental History3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Must have earned at least 45 credit hours. This course focuses on the interaction of the natural environment and human societies in North America from approximately 1500 to the present. Topics include colonial and imperial expansion, industrialization and the rise of modern technological systems, agricultural intensification, the development of contemporary environmental thinking, and the origins of the modern environmental movement. Selected themes present American environmental history within a global context.
