SOCI 4443:Medical Sociology3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours This course provides an analysis of (1) the social processes affecting conditions of health and illness and (2) the cluster of social relationships and organizations that comprise the social institution of health. It emphasizes the sociocultural factors that influence definitions of health and illness, causes, preventions and treatments, cross-cultural and interclass comparisons of stress, delivery of health care, mental illness, death and dying, and health care professionals.
