POLS 4433:European Union Politics3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: POLS 1101 This course explores the politics and policy-making processes of the European Union (EU). It is divided into three parts. The first part addresses the history of European integration and the major theories utilized to explain its origins, evolution and operation. The second part of the course examines the structures and processes that constitute the machinery of EU policymaking. The third part of the course examines the politics of policy-making in an array of issue areas, including the single market, the Euro, and external trade policy. We also examine various noneconomic policy areas such as foreign and security policy.
