DLI - 305 Using the Desire2Learn LMSFaculty and instructional staff at KSU will be the primary audience for this workshop where they will learn to use various tools like - Discussions, Quizzes, Announcements, Email, learning anlytics, and features like Editing Web Pages, widgets etc. in the D2L LMS. In the process, they will developing part of a course that they will be teaching in an upcoming semester.
Once participants are enrolled in the workshop, they will be going through the workshop content and resources and complete activities in the Sandbox and the assessment area in the workshop. They will be exploring different tools and various editing features related to Discussions, Quizzes, Content creation, widgets, editing web pages and Learning Analytics. As the Online Course embodies both pedagogical and technical skills, participants will be developing a part of a course that they plan to teach in the near future. The workshop content and resources will guide them through the pedagogy and the videos and articles and lecture content will provide them with directions to develop components like the Start Module, the accessible syllabus, the entry quiz etc. during this process.
The learning outcomes covered for this badge are as follows. Participants will be able to:
- Build a Start Here Module for an upcoming online course
- Edit the Instructor introduction widget in the Sandbox in D2L
- Write a Welcome note for an upcoming course in their Sandbox in D2L
- Write their instructor Introduction for an upcoming course in their Sandbox in D2L using the edit html feature
- Fill out and upload the accessible syllabus document for an upcoming course in their Sandbox in D2L
- Use and Create a discussion board in the Start Module for an upcoming course in their Sandbox in D2L
- Create an Entry Quiz for an upcoming course in their Sandbox in D2L
- Create a welcome Announcement for an upcoming course in their Sandbox in D2L
- Create a welcome email using the D2L Email tool in their Sandbox in D2L
- Use the Learning Analytics / Statistics feature in D2L to acess student analytics
Earning Criteria: Learners will demonstrate their Desire2Learn and pedagogical skills by creating a Start Module, a welcome announcement draft and a welcome email draft in their Sandbox, and learning analytics screenshots in the assessment section of the workshop which will provide evidence of tools and features used in D2L.
