ASMT - 202 Curriculum Map Design

This Curriculum Map Design micro-credential is awarded for demonstrating knowledge about the connection between student learning outcomes and curriculum mapping, the role of curriculum maps, the purpose of program vs. course curriculum maps, how curriculum maps drive instructional decisions, and the options for creating curriculum maps. The targeted audience for this micro-credential is faculty, program coordinators, department chairs, and associate deans for assessment.

This micro-credential is in the Academic Assessment Series, which consists of five modules focusing on foundational aspects of academic assessment and continuous improvement.

The learning outcomes for Curriculum Map Design are:

  • Describe how curriculum mapping supports student learning.
  • Explain the difference between program level and course level curriculum maps.
  • Examine curriculum map templates to determine which might be most appropriate for your purpose.
  • Determine which curriculum model is most appropriate for you given the content you teach.

Earning Criteria: Participants complete quizzes, discussions, and attend a synchronous session. If learners receive less than 80% on the quiz, they are prompted to retake the quiz.

Participants submit a mini-curriculum map for their own program or course by applying the theories and skills gained from the module. Our assessment team provides qualitative formative feedback on the curriculum map. To complete the requirements, participants submit a final version of their curriculum map. The map is assessed for completeness.

By passing the quizzes and finishing the discussions and curriculum map, learners are awarded a level 1 badge and are better prepared to create effective curriculum maps.
