ECON 3478:Economics of Healthcare3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Any 1000 level MATH or STAT course, and Any 1000, 2000, or 3000 ECON course This course provides an overview of the structure of health care markets in the United States. Students will learn to understand the economic issues that mold the structure and evolution of the health care industry in the US and globally. Students will evaluate the impact of the health care system in the United States on the competing goals of broad access, high quality, and affordability. Students will also identify how consumers and providers respond to changes in incentives and develop an appreciation for opposing views on health care reform.
