CHEM 7300:Synthetic Methods3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Admission and enrollment in the Master of Science in Chemical Sciences degree program or permission of the program director or chair. This course will provide a background in the fundamental methods of synthesis, focusing on applications in the broad fields of organic, inorganic, bioinorganic, and organometallic chemistry. Topics may include: tactics of carbon-carbon bond formation, oxidations, reductions, and other functional group transformations; strategies and tactics for stereochemically asymmetric synthesis; and supporting discussions of synthetic design, molecular structure, and reaction mechanisms.
