BIOL 6413:Advanced Evolutionary Analysis3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Admission and enrollment in the Master of Science in Integrative Biology program and BIOL 3380, MATH 1190 (or equivalent), or permission of the director of the graduate program. Advanced concepts in evolutionary theory and mechanism. Topics include the derivations of the foundational principles of population and quantitative genetics, selection, speciation, mutation, sexual and kin selection, and life history evolution. Genome evolution, the evolution of development, and phylogenetic reconstruction and its application will be covered. Application of these evolutionary principles across ecology, medicine, and molecular biology are discussed.
