CE 6101:Finite Element Analysis3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: CE 3201 (or equivalent) or approval of instructor. Introduction to the use of finite element methods in structural analysis; the finite element formulation; 1- and 2-D elements; isoparametric elements; axisymmetric analysis; plate and shell elements; dynamics, buckling, and nonlinear analysis.
- Discuss the fundamental concepts of the Finite Element Method.
- Apply the basic properties, behavior and usage of different types of finite elements.
- Prepare FE models and solve typical Civil Engineering problems using FEM.
- Interpret and evaluate the quality of the results of FE simulations.
