EDRD 3330:Methods and Materials for Middle Grades Content Area Reading and Writing3 Class Hours 1 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: Admission to Teacher Education and EDUC 2130 Corequisite: EDMG 3300 This course prepares candidates to teach diverse works for adolescents from a variety of sources including young adult literature as well as technical, informational, environmental text, and the media. Text selection and electronic database media resources are introduced. A focus on language and cultural diversity is included. Candidates spend at least 15 hours in a middle grades classroom, arranged by the instructor. A current criminal history background check and proof of liability insurance is required.
