CHEM 3602 - Physical Chemistry II: Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics3 Credit Hours 3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours Prerequisites C or better grade in CHEM 3601.Corequisites CHEM 3602L. CHEM 3602 is the second in a two-semester sequence covering physical chemistry, and has its primary emphasis on chemical thermodynamics and statistical mechanics and statistical thermodynamics. The course includes physical and chemical properties of real and ideal gases, the laws of thermodynamics and their application to physical and chemical systems, treatment of phase equilibria and chemical equilibria, and extends the application of quantum mechanics to thermodynamics in the development of statistical thermodynamics.
