NURS 8874 - Nurse Educator Practicum II

1 Class Hours 2 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: NURS 8873, 7751
This course is a continuation of the practicum experience designed to provide students with the opportunity to explore and utilize increasingly complex education concepts and principles with the guidance of an appropriate preceptor. Students will also explore issues related to communication theory and skills, leadership in the classroom, group dynamics, conflict management, and the use of technology in nursing education. Update: This course is a continuation of the practicum experience designed to provide students with the opportunity to explore and utilize increasingly complex education concepts and principles related to clinical simulation pedagogy with the guidance of an appropriate preceptor. Students will explore Standards 4 and 5 of the INACSL practice standards as a facilitator of clinical simulation along with issues related to communication theory and skills, leadership in the teaching environment, group dynamics, and conflict management Additional Objectives: 2. Facilitate a clinical simulation event for a selected group of nursing students using standards of best practice. 6. Engage in self-reflection through appending coursework documents and reflective writings to e-portfolio website.
