CET 4410 - Foundation and Retaining Wall Design

2 Class Hours 3 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours
Prerequisite: CET 3410 or CET 3301
This course presents the basic concepts and fundamental principles that are necessary to understand the standard methods of foundation and earth retaining structure design. Students will be encourages to use Excel spreadsheets to solve foundation engineering design problems. Course topics will include shallow foundations, mat foundations, pile foundations, conventional retaining walls, braced excavations, mechanical stabilized earth walls and soil nail walls.
