ILEC 8800 - Foundations of Ethics3 Credit Hours 3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours This course will emphasize the study of foundational texts and figures in eastern and western ethics. Before studying a particular culture, it is important to develop a world view based upon an understanding of ethics. The course begins with the study of the philosophical theory of cultural differences. Using this heuristic as a conceptual framework, the course undertakes a close reading of seminal texts in history of western and eastern ethics. The course culminates in a brief introduction to applied ethics to demonstrate how these foundational theories can be applied to specific case studies.
