LALS 1102 - Understanding Latin America3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: None. In this course students critically approach Latin America/Latino-US from interdisciplinary perspectives while analyzing texts within a social, political, cultural, economic, historical, artistic, and geographical context. The concept of a global understanding of Latin America within the notion of a hemispheric America is emphasized, as well as how different nations relate to one another in terms of identity formation and statehood. Issues of representation in the context of immigration and multicultural relations are also studied.
