FILM 3200:Film History and Theory I3 Class Hours 0 Laboratory Hours 3 Credit Hours Prerequisite: One of the following courses: ENGL 2110 , ENGL 2111 , ENGL 2112 , ENGL 2120 , ENGL 2121 , ENGL 2122 , ENGL 2130 , ENGL 2131 , ENGL 2132 , or ENGL 2300 A survey of the major developments, movements, and critical approaches in international cinema from 1895-1950, this course emphasizes an understanding of the historical, cultural, commercial, and aesthetic contexts that influence film. The course also develops the student’s understanding of a film’s narrative and visual structure and its place within established theoretical traditions.
