Academy for Inclusive Learning and Social Growth

The Academy for Inclusive Learning and Social Growth

The Academy for Inclusive Learning and Social Growth at Kennesaw State University provides a fully inclusive post-secondary education experience for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Through enrollment in university courses as non-degree-seeking students, Academy participants engage in academic enrichment, social integration, and career development while gaining real-life college experiences. The program fosters independence and self-advocacy, equipping students with the skills needed for personal and professional success. Upon completion, students earn a Certificate of Social Growth and Development, recognizing their achievements in academic, career, and social development.

The Academy offers two structured certificate programs designed to work in conjunction. The Academic, Social, and Career Enrichment (ASCE) Program, established in 2009, serves as a two-year foundation for inclusive learning and has been recognized as a Comprehensive Transition Program (CTP). Building upon this foundation, the Advanced Leadership and Career Development (ALCD) Program, introduced in 2014, helps students refine career readiness, leadership, and independent living skills. With tuition-based enrollment and both on- and off-campus housing options, the Academy provides a rich, immersive college experience that promotes lifelong learning, inclusion, and empowerment.
